Sinopsis
El paisaje caluroso y seco del Norte de Chile, junto al silencio y la quietud del desierto, alberga a una serie de personajes que van de paso, viajeros errantes y nómades, que emigran de la ciudad en busca de nuevas formas de establecerse, intentando olvidar o desaparecer en medio de este inhóspito escenario.
Andino explora los contrastes entre estos personajes y el árido entorno, a través de diversas técnicas fotográficas donde los descartes del material fílmico, vencido, deteriorado y roto, nos sumergen en el espacio y en la mente de los personajes. La película se desprende y corroe el instante capturado, lo destruye, lo convierte y aparecen fisuras, se ven imágenes perdidas que luchan por permanecer al igual que los personajes, dejándonos inmersos en este viaje a través del espacio y la memoria.
The hot and dry landscape of Northern Chile, along with silence and quietness of the desert, is hosting a series of characters going through, wandering travelers or nomads, and others emigrating from a big city looking for new ways to settle down, an attempt to forget or just disappear in the middle of an inhospitable stage.
Andino is exploring the contrasts between these characters and the arid environment, by means of diverse photographic techniques, perusing disposable film material, worn out, deteriorated and even mutilated. These materials enable us to submerge into characters’ space and their minds. The film dilutes itself thus corroding the captured instant of time, destroys it, and the transformed material let us see fissures. Lost images may now be seen, struggling to stay as the characters do, leaving the spectator immersed in this journey through space and memory
